Fine Arts Publications (FAP)

Fine Art Publications, a design-oriented department staffed by Visual Communications students, serves the design needs for the School of Arts and Letters , primarily art, music and theater. Work from outside the School of Arts and Letters is welcome. The staff includes an Art Director, Junior Art Director, Senior Designers and Junior Designers. Each designer works closely with clients and suppliers to produce posters, brochures, websites and other projects. Fine Art Publications is a useful learning environment for Visual Communications students to gain knowledge and experience in the design world. Working with real clients and actual design projects helps to prepare students for life in the professional world.

FAP is a design service provided by the Art Department and the Visual Communications program. Services and design/production options vary with the time-line in which FAP has to produce a project.

Three weeks is required for any job that involves University Publications and Printing Services.

Two weeks, if working only with FAP and Printing Services only.

One week, if the project is completed and printed entirely in-house in FAP.

The earlier a project is opened in FAP, the more options for printing exist. FAP works closely with University Publications to output film for off-set litho printing at Printing Services. If the design does not require film negatives, University Publications is not part of the production process.

Short-run laser printing : 30 to 50 copies - one week turn-around

Black and White: up to 11 x 17

Color: up to 8.5 x 14

Short-run large format color inkjet printing: 10 copies - one week turn-around

Maximum size: 17 x 24

TLTC Large Format Color Inkjet Printing

One week turn-around

Maximum size: 44 inches width
