Pre-Master of Arts in Education

Unlike most schools with Education degrees, there is no undergraduate degree in Education at Truman State. Instead, we expect all students to earn a degree in their area of interest (in our case, Art) and then focus on education coursework at the Masters level. By taking some education prerequisites as an undergraduate, the MAE in Art  degree generally takes a year and two summers to complete.

Students interested in the pre-MAE track, usually earn a BA in Liberal Arts degree with a concentration in one of the five studio areas offered at Truman State. It is possible, however, to enter the MAE program with any of the degrees in Art that are offered at Truman State. Students who are planning on pursuing the MAE should consult with the program director early in their undergraduate program in order to complete requirements and prerequisites in a timely fashion.
